Summer Studios forms part of a wider programme of talent development at The Glasshouse that will provide opportunities for a broad range of musicians working across different music genres. This advanced musical theatre studio delves into the iconic songs of Little Shop of Horrors, an award-winning musical comedy playing this summer on our Leonard C. Haas Stage. After an intensive period of training and rehearsal, participants will perform a showcase featuring selections from the musical on the actual set of our mainstage production.

Courses with low enrollment will be canceled, and students will be contacted to select another choice or receive a program refund. If a course is in high demand, we will work to create another section to accommodate student interest. You can also enjoy some classic blockbusters during the Summer Movie Series at the Universal Cinemark. On select days from May 17th through July 30th, the theater will be showing classic including The Mummy, The Fast and the Furious, and Shrek. There will also be a Summer Music Series from June 21st through August 9th.

About Summer Studios

For students entering grades 11-12, this program is a four-week intensive experience in art making and critical thinking. Students develop the practice and skills required to achieve excellence in their artistic endeavors and produce work for their portfolios. At Summer Evans Studio, we strive to provide the ultimate hair experience from start to finish using advanced methods and techniques. Our education-driven stylists attend weekly training and attend monthly classes which means that they are highly knowledgeable and will help you find a look that suits your individual style.

Three two-week sessions for students 14–18 years old, Monday–Friday, 1 p.m.–4 p.m. Each session is focused in one studio, with students spending three hours in one of our art-making studios. Tobaric Atkins-Montana will serve as the mentor for time-based and performing arts students. This immersive studio will not only sharpen your design skills but also empower you as a creator. Through a hands-on approach to drawing, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of urban form through the act of physical creation.

At MassArt, we offer youth and teen programs that encourage children and teens to dig in and try new things — without the fear of failure. They can stain their hands with ink and lead, get paint on their shoes, and clay under their fingernails. They find the space and the freedom to explore, learn, and grow.

Additionally, in honor of Back to the Future‘s 40th anniversary, exclusive new merchandise will be available. Summer Art Studios classes are held on the historic, park-like grounds of UTSA Southwest, located at the intersection of Augusta and Navarro (across from the Central Library). At times, individual classes may include an off-site field trip as part of the learning experience. In those instances, it will be required that personal transportation is provided for each student. MassArt’s Winter Workshops are two-day programs offered each January and February, that give high school students a chance to explore the arts. An intensive four-week program for the young artist who is serious about their work.
